Ronald Acuna Jr. Just Made One Of The Most Absurd Throws You'll Ever See

I don't even have any words.

Ausmus couldn't pick up that phone fast enough because even though your eyes saw what they saw, your brain refuses to comprehend it.

Acuna was as far as you could possibly get in the ballpark from third base, yet threw it on a rope to third to double up Vivas. Guy didn't even crowhop. He threw that ball flat-footed.

Bonkers.

Credit to Braves third baseman Alvarez there for selling that so well, which caused Vivas to casually coast to third.

It almost looked like Acuna didn't believe he got him either because he wasn't really celebrating until he was almost back to the dugout realizing the call wasn't being challenged. Unreal.

p.s. - here are some more of the most ridiculous throws in major league history.

My father told me I left this one of Roberto Clemente out-

p.p.s. - one of my favorite fun facts about Willie Mays' famous "The Catch" is that his throw after making that grab was almost equally as impressive.

When Vic Wertz hit that 420+ foot shot to deep center in the Polo Grounds, there were runners on base, Al Rosen was on first, and Larry Doby was on second. If Mays had just caught the ball and lobbed it in or let it bounce around, Doby could have easily scored, with maybe Rosen too. But Mays didn’t just make a miracle over-the-shoulder basket catch, he immediately spun around and fired the ball back to the infield, preventing both runners from advancing.

That throw held Doby at third and Rosen at second. Mays' baseball IQ and awareness were off the charts. Something Bob Costas described in detail about the play here -
