Milly Alcock Has Drunk Bloody Knuckles In The 1st Official Poster For 'Supergirl' With James Gunn Promising "She Will Be A Total Mess"

It's not crazy to say that Milly Alcock might've been cast as Kara Zor-El AKA Supergirl based solely off that video from the Golden Globes. If you weren't aware, Kara is nothing like her super powered cousin Clark Kent. She's a bit of a murderous wildcard and also a phenomenally drunken mess.

Apparently Kryptonians can get drunk if they drink booze on a planet that has a red sun?

The more you know!

Her exact origin story varies but essentially, her parents invented some kind of shield bubble that protected their city on Krypton from the planet's explosion... But also ejected their land mass into space. Here's a summary from Robbie Fox:

'Woman of Tomorrow' gives her a much darker personality/origin/edge than ol' farm boy Clark Kent. To make a long story short, she wasn't a baby like him when Krypton exploded, she was 14, so she had to watch everyone she knew and loved die horrific deaths….and not only when the planet blew up, but in the months that followed. Lotsa Kyrptonians suffered for a while before they died, and weren't as lucky as the Man of Steel.

So she's got some trauma, and travels across the galaxy with her dog Krypto to get away from it all and celebrate her 21st birthday. There, she meets a girl named Ruthye, whose father was murdered, and it becomes a full on revenge story. 'Woman of Tomorrow' is also set on a planet with a red sun, making Supergirl's powers useless. It's probably gonna be super sci-fi-y and a bit weird, but if done right, you could have a badass Supergirl Kill Bill on your hands - and Milly Alcock is perfect for that role in my opinion.

So while Clark Kent got to grow up with a loving family and immediate absorption into our human culture, Kara had half a life with her real family but experienced brutal tragedy in her teenage years.

Certainly makes sense why she'd want to live inside a bottle and not give a fuck about anything other than her dog. Relatable as fuck really.

Is it blood? Is it spray paint? Is it a blue slushy loaded with rum ham booze? Maybe yes to all 3. But I'm looking forward to this iteration of Supergirl, especially after learning how different she is from Superman. Friction creates fire!

And Milly already has that part covered in spades.

But as much as I'm looking forward to seeing that movie next summer, I do need to give a salute to the Supergirls that helped blaze the trail for her.

Shout out to Helen Slater & Melissa Benoist & Sasha Calle. Thank YOU for your super service.
