It features long, ornately decorated wooden boats paddled by teams of 40–60 people in a spectacular and rhythmic competition. The tradition dates back to the 17th century and has evolved from a transportation method to a royal celebration, and now into a national cultural festival. Recently I've been seeing Indonesian boat racing videos flooding social media and frankly, I cannot get enough of these vibes. Truly a perfect storm of a beautiful historic tradition + incredible outfits + smooth moves + internet absurdity.

And I'll fully admit the term "aura farming" makes me want to Freddy Krueger my eyeballs out, chop my dick off, and jump into boiling acid… But those dance moves are simply TOO good. They gotta figure out how to make money off this.

I'm grateful I got to learn about a new cultural tradition but I do hope they give a key to the city to #1 Aura Farmer Rayyan Arkan Dhika. Some token of appreciation other than a new black faux pope hat? Least they can do for their country's #1 export.
