The Dumbest Controversy: Rob McElhenney Put Out A Video Defending His Decision To Legally Change His Name To Rob Mac
Somehow, this has become a thing. People are losing their minds - albeit it's on Twitter and shit isn't real - but people are somehow mad about this? Saying he sold out to Hollywood and became too famous for who started on It's Always Sunny. Uh, no shit. It's Always Sunny has been around for 20 years, everyone has become too famous for that show if you look at what they've done since. But we really care about a guy changing his name?
I stand with Rob McElhenney, mostly because people bat a smooth 12% saying my last name correctly. It's not a hard name, but some guy named Ronald Reagan ruined how it's pronounced. I've basically given up trying to correct people and luckily have a nickname people can just call me. No point in explaining over and over again how to say my last name and just nod when they pronounce it 'Ray-gn' instead of 'Ree-gn'.
Can we all stop caring about people changing their name? You think he's the first actor or famous person to do so? Of course not. Dan Patrick's name is Dan Pugh. Vin Diesel was named Mark Vincent, Jamie Foxx was Eric Bishop. You get the point. Next you're going to tell me The Undertaker isn't a real undertaker? Or that Kane and Undertaker weren't actual brothers? My world would be shattered then.
If he really wanted to get people riled up he would legally change his name to Ronald McDonald or just Mac. It's what everyone knows him as anyways. Insane people care or got mad about this.
