Connor McDavid Just Pulled Off The Filthiest Assist He's Made in Nearly 48 Hours in One of The Greatest Periods of Hockey We've Ever Witnessed

He's just so impossibly good at hockey. It's like when an B-League beer league hockey team calls in an A-League level sub, and he just ruins the game for everyone else. He genuinely does something of that caliber at least once a game in the National Hockey League. It's so hard for an NHL player to stick out head and shoulders above the rest for a casual hockey fan. At any given time, there's maybe 10 or so players in the league even capable of really doing it, and none of the others can at anywhere close to the clip McDavid does. What a player. What an assist. Holy shit did he make Ekblad (the second defender) look incompetent with his ridiculous turning poke check falling to his knees attempt at defense. That was truly the best assist I've seen McDavid make in almost 48 hours.

Ok so I guess that assist he had tonight was way filthier than his assist in Game 1. But the vision displayed on that 3rd period assist to Ekholm the other night was insane in its own right. I heard a couple analysts claim that pass was intended for Evander Kane in front of the net, but I don't buy it. McDavid knows exactly where all his teammates are on the ice at all times. He doesn't even need to have his head up. He did admittedly get a bit lucky, as he didn't quite lift the puck high enough to get it over Bobrovsksy's stick. But it was enough that Bobrovsky just barely clipped it, and the puck still managed to find what I'm choosing to believe was McDavid's intended target.

Incredible start to Game 2 on TNT right now. Oilers lead 3-2 after the 1st period. We're quite literally on pace to tie the record for most goals in a game in Stanley Cup Finals history. Honestly one of the best periods of hockey I've watched in my life.
