The Braves Lose After Leading the Diamondbacks 10-4 in the 9th Inning and Everyone Must Go
After what has become a standard 2-1 loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday night, the Atlanta Braves somehow found a way to hit a new low for the 2025 season when they entered the ninth inning up 10-4 on Thursday after finally putting together some offense and still gave up seven runs in the final frame to lose 11-10. The Braves have now lost 11 of their last 14 games and are 27-34 on the season.
I don't know how it can get worse than this, but I'm sure it will. And the season is obviously over at this point, so that just is what it is. All that matters now is whether or not the front office will show that it believes this kind of incompetence is acceptable or not and how it positions this team for the future.
Brian Snitker has been in the Braves organization for nearly 50 years. He managed a team that won the World Series. I truly hate that it's come to this and I wish it didn't have to be this way, but he can't get on that plane to San Francisco tonight. He is in command of a rudderless ship that is sinking quickly. Atlanta canned third base coach Matt Tuiasosopo the other day after a few bad sends over a couple weeks, so why is the guy in charge of this whole operation immune?
And when the trade deadline comes around, this team needs to get rid of some valuable assets and acquire some talent going forward. Marcell Ozuna is in the final year of his contract and Chris Sale has a club option remaining for 2026. Those guys should attract some outstanding offers from contenders. At minimum, those guys need to be turned into something because they're not doing a ton of good being on the Braves for the rest of this year. And if teams want to make some offers for anyone else not named Ronald Acuña Jr., Spencer Schwellenbach or Drake Baldwin, Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos should listen.
I detest that this is where we are right now, but I'd rather take a bullet to the head and figure things out going forward than continue to be stabbed in the leg. This team sucks ass. The approach at the plate is horrific, the bullpen would obviously be an issue if they could score a handful of runs more than once in a blue moon and there is clearly no meaningful leadership of which to speak.
Do something.
