Lorde Teased A Pop Up In Washington Square Park, Police Told Everyone To Leave, Then Lorde Showed Up Anyway
It was an exciting night in NYC, as a balmy 75 degrees brought out all of us who are begging to touch grass...even famous singer Lorde who teased a performance in the middle of Washington Square Park about an hour and a half ahead of "showtime." The place absolutely flooded with fans until the police showed up and told everyone to BREAK IT UP!
Everyone dispersed, singing in the streets despite the disappointment of not seeing Lorde in the flesh (likely planning to performing her new song 'What Was That')
And then, around 930pm….OMG!!!! SHE SHOWED UP ANYWAY!!!!!
Now, there are a few options here. 1, she tried to do a fun pop up concert like her new bestie Charli XCX and didn't get the proper permits to do it. Yes, BRATs, as rock and roll as it seems to hold a pop up concert, they always are and MUST have permits. You can't just bring a riot of fans to a place in NYC without the proper protection! After so many people left, Lorde felt like it was safe enough to come out and perform for those who hung on the longest.
Option 2 - this is all a big publicity stunt. The whole thing itself has me asking, "what was that?" You're gonna tell me that Lorde didn't take another page out of her musical friends books, and stir up a little controversy accidentally?? IDK YALL. My eyes are OPEN.
Either way, exciting stuff! Shoutout to all the people who ended up being able to see her perform and to all those who left early, let this be a lesson. If you're a big enough fan, you never leave. They might just show up for you, too.
