"My Heart Was Broken Honestly" - Luka Doncic Opened Up About How He Lost His Shit And Threw His Phone After Learning He Had Been Traded To The Lakers

It's not exactly a hot take to assume Luka Doncic was pretty upset when he got the news that his tenure as a Dallas Maverick was over. Everything we've seen and heard from him since that moment paints a pretty clear picture. Even if he may not be happy(ish) in his new home, that had to be quite a moment when it all first went down. I'm sure Luka was just like the rest of us and thought Shams got hacked or something.

Ahead of his first playoff run as a Laker, Luka sat down with Malika Andrews and covered it all

Luka going full Ari Gold in that moment isn't something I found all that surprising

I'm sure he was full of emotion when he got the news, and considering it's in no way what he wanted, that type of reaction is what most would expect.

Instead, I'd like to focus on this part

Maybe it's just me, but I'll NEVER understand how anyone could raw dog their iPhone and not have some sort of case. I don't care if you're Luka Doncic and you have hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank or you're just a regular ass stoolie. Going caseless is simply something that I personally could never do. I'd be worried about it breaking/cracking/scratching 24/7. The way phone cases have advanced, it's not even like they are all bulky and awkward. Some are actually pretty slim and still do a great job at protecting your phone. I know some people complain about how much "bigger" it makes the iPhone or whatever, but I've always considered that to be a non-factor and something you get over pretty quickly. In fact, it actually feels weird when I hold my phone without a case as I clean it/change the screen protector etc

Am I alone in this? Am I actually the weird one who doesn't raw dog their iPhone?

Granted, maybe this is the type of rich person move that my brain will simply never understand. I feel like they're mostly the ones that pull a move like this, and maybe when you have more money than God, I suppose you aren't all that worried about spending $1,000+ every once in a while for a new phone. Or, maybe you're like Luka and you'll just rock a fucked up phone (something I also would find very annoying). Technically, we don't exactly live in the old days when getting a new phone was a gigantic pain in the ass which when I was growing up was a main reason why you did all you could to protect your asset. Remember back in the day when you had to go into the store and have them transfer all your data/contacts/etc? That was brutal. Now, you can do it over the cloud in about 2.2 seconds from the comfort of your own home.

Perhaps it's a generational thing, and as someone who continues to move into the "old" category, I might be viewing this very differently than the younger generation. Maybe to them, this is normal, whereas to m,e it's one of the most psychotic things you can do, especially if you aren't flush with cash.

If I were Apple, I'd find a way to capitalize on something like this. Make an ad that talks about how the iPhone is so strong that it can even survive the rage of Luka Doncic after learning he got traded from the Mavs. I imagine he threw that thing pretty hard, so the fact that it still looks decent and still works seems like a marketing no-brainer.

So tell me. Are you like Luka and go no case for your phone? If so, in some ways, I respect your bravery and general lack of caring about what might happen. I'm just not sure I'm built for that type of stress. There have been way too many times my case has saved me from disaster, and I don't even have a super bulky one.
