Connor Bedard Says He Loves Chicago And Wants To Be Here For A Long Time
I don't know where the internet rumors started a few months ago that speculated that Bedard wanted out. I never really believed those and I think an extension will be announced on July 1 or shortly thereafter. All good things from Bedard here.
I think the most interesting question about Bedard's future is what his contract will actually look like. If Bedard were Sidney Crosby he'd probably take 8 years at $9.8M and that contract will hopefully become one of the biggest bargains in the league when Bedard is like 27 years old. Having said that...if I were Bedard I would NEVER do that. All we ever hear about his how the cap is going up dramatically. I would do what Auston Matthews did. Get a nice "bridge deal" around that $9.8M number and then try to cash in big time when the cap and your own value are up.
The arrow on the organization feels like it is FINALLY pointing upwards.
Winning comes from winning habits. Hopefully a new coach and usher in a new culture of accountability to go with the obvious young talent. They do have talent. Bedard is a guy. Nazar is a guy. Lev, Vlasic, Knight, Rinzel...all guys. Another top 5 pick coming. Hopefully some big time established forward via trade or free agency. I really REALLY hope there's a genuine step taken next season. I am tired of waiting.
