Nick Taylor Is Enjoying His Time At The Open - Shoots A 75, Immediately Starts Talking About Throwing His Putter Into The Ocean

This is EXACTLY what I want to hear. I said it during Pinehurst and some of the carnage we saw there, I want to see guys struggle sometimes. Not every tournament needs to be -20 and a shootout. It's fun, but it can get boring. I want to see these guys grind for pars. I want to see them frustrated, pissed off, acting like you and me. I've thought about throwing a club into a lake a time or two. Never did it because I don't want to buy a new one, but it's crossed my mind.

Look at those stats though. 9 putts for birdie, shoots a 75. Hell yes. I mean sure, you should make a few of them, but I want to hear guys talk about contemplating the ocean. I wouldn't rule out a Mark Calcavecchia walking into the ocean at the 1991 Ryder Cup from someone here. Sometimes you gotta do something to switch up the juju. There's just something different about links style courses and we're seeing it play out. Not just the weather change or some of the fescue. I want these guys to be confused by putts, trying to figure out how to lag a putt and give themselves a tap-in.

The best part? We're not even halfway through day 1. Last I saw, Saturday is going to be the day of the worst weather. We saw it in 2016 where luck of the draw was key for Stenson. You need to catch the course when the weather is helping you the most. For Nick Taylor though? It's about launching a putter into the ocean. Gotta admit, it will feel good.
