Yes, The Foo Fighters Are Releasing A Disco Album And If You Don't Like It You Can Choke On One
CoS - Foo Fighters have announced their disco alter egos the Dee Gees, as well as the new album Hail Satin, just in time for Record Store Day.
Directing fans to the official site for Record Store Day, the rockers also posted a brief snippet of a disco rock song. The accompanying visuals show the lustrous silver Dee Gees cover art against a pink and purple-streaked background, which slowly flips around to reveal the Foo Fighters’ name.
Hail Satin will serve as the debut for Dave Grohl and co. under their Dee Gees moniker. Side A of the limited-edition record will contain covers of four Bee Gees classics — including 1976’s “You Should Be Dancing” and 1977’s “More Than a Woman” — as well as the band’s take on Andy Gibb’s smash disco hit “Shadow Dancing”. Side B, meanwhile, will boast live versions of five tracks from Foo Fighters’ 2021 LP Medicine at Midnight. Check out the band’s announcement and Hail Satin‘s complete tracklist below.
Somewhere over the last 6 months to a year it apparently became cool to not like The Foo Fighters? I honestly have no idea, I can't keep up anymore.
Regardless, as somebody who tells it like it is, when it comes to musical talent alone you have rocks in your head if you honestly think these guys don't fuck like giant hydraulic jackhammers.
That said, if you do have a brain, and acknowledge how good The Foo's are, then you should be through-the-roof excited for this news that there's a disco album on the way.
Disco is fucking awesome.

Disco is fun, upbeat, uplifting music. It's impossible to hear a great track and not want to start moving. Unless you don't have a single rhythmic bone in your body.

As with everything here at Barstool SPORTS, we are ten steps ahead of everybody else. Like a young Bobby Fischer we're always thinking ten steps ahead. So back in February when Dave and company were fucking around on a BBC interview to promote their latest album, and dropped a snippet of "You Should Be Dancing" I was all over it like flies on shit.
Barstool Sports' Dante - In the interview, Grohl explained to host Jo Wiley that the band was in the studio to record when the new Bee Gees documentary, "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart", was brought up. Grohl suggested trying their hand at a cover of “You Should Be Dancing” — and doing it just like the Bee Gees.
(If you haven't watched this documentary yet I can't recommend it enough. I blogged about it back in December. It's fuckin awesome, even if you think you don't like disco (you do, you're just lying to yourself))
Not only is Grohl’s Barry Gibb impersonation unreal, bassist Nate Mendel nails the funky bassline.
Also, who knew Dave Grohl had such a ridiculously good falsetto?
The part I love the most about all of this? The inspiration behind it was one of the greatest music documentaries I have ever seen, HBO's "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" covering the Gibb family's rise to fame and massive impact on music as a whole.
Blogged about it back in December and again, if you have yet to watch this, put it on your list for this week. It will blow your mind and if you didn't respect or like The Bee Gee's before, you'll find it hard to after.

(fun fact- the doc does a great job of showing how Chicago disc jockey Steve Dahl and the White Sox basically single-handedly dealt a death blow to disco with their Disco Demolition Promotional Night. Wild shit.)

The 10-track LP features the band’s take on five Brothers Gibb classics — Bee Gees’ “You Should Be Dancing,” Night Fever,” “Tragedy,” and “More Than a Woman,” plus Andy Gibb’s “Shadow Dancing” — as well as five of Foo Fighters’ Medicine at Midnight tracks recorded live at their 606 studio.
The limited-edition vinyl will be packaged “era-appropriately in a dazzling rainbow mylar sleeve.”
