Olympic Champion Torah Bright is Catching Heat for Her Photo Breastfeeding Her Son While Doing a Headstand. Because People are Terrible.

Source -  Aussie snowboarding icon Torah Bright is unapologetically proud of the mother she is.

After receiving backlash over a partially nude breastfeeding photo she shared to Instagram and Facebook on Mother’s Day, Bright sent an emotional message to fellow moms feeling unsupported about how they choose to parent.

“Reading some of these comments made me sad,” Bright wrote in a since-expired post on Instagram Stories — which included a topless image of her in a headstand while breastfeeding her 10-month-old son, Flow. ...

Bright is one of the more decorated athletes in Australia, winning the gold in the halfpipe at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver and silver at Sochi four years later.

If you're someone who thinks that generally speaking people overshare online, you'll get no argument from me. Have a problem with Influencer culture and you're singing my song. Push back against these fake avatars we've all created to live our fantasy online lives that don't reflect reality, and I'm right there with you, brother.

But for the mother of god, it takes a whole other level of self-centered megalomania to clap at Torah Bright for posting a photo of herself nursing her baby. I'm talking to the commenters she referenced, as well as this random assemblage of 1s and 0s it took me half a minute to find:

I mean, I'm not arguing you have to like it. But if you don't, ignoring it and clicking onto something else is always an option. What would compel anyone to think they're justified in going on the Instagram of a new mother and throw her gas just because they think she's out of line?

I'm sorry that I'm not a big Olympic snowboarding historian, so I wasn't familiar with Torah Bright before this. So far be it for me to speak for her. She doesn't seem to need my help. But just to take a stab at the question these online slappies are throwing out there about why she's post a picture like this, how's this for an explanation?

She looks amazing. She's a world class athlete. A multiple time champion in her sport. She's just had a baby and she's still keeping in incredible shape. She's proud of herself, of her baby, and being a new mom. If there was some harmful side effects of headstand breastfeeding, I could see your point. If there was danger the baby would fill up like a waterbed or she'd topple on him, by all means, speak up. But if not, shut your own milk hole and let this strong, powerful, all natural Olympian mother the way she wants to mother. And if you can find a happier baby in the world than this little cherub, I'd like to see it.
