Ramón Laureano Takes A Pitch Right In The Nuts, Wears It Like A Champ

2021 is the year of the cup I guess. Thursday night we saw umpire Tony Randazzo take one square in the dick. Couldn't be more center cut, bounced right up and got him. Figured we were set on ball shots for a while but I was wrong. Astros - Athletics were playing and we got Ramón Laureano up at the plate. You remember the benchs clearing incident we had last year when Laureano got plunked by Houston, so there is bad blood between these teams already. Lance McCullers on the bump and that dude can sling it. Really nasty breaking ball too, but this one didn't break like he wanted. In fact it broke right into Laureano's balls. Like literally right into them. Thank GOD he was wearing a cup (I think) because he wore that like a champ. I'm sweating just watching the replay. 

Laureano walks it down to first like nothing happened but I know inside he wants to scream. He wants to make sure everything is good down there. It may be like the old saying "don't rub it" when you get hit, but I think he should be allowed to give it a double check. Definitely don't rub it but give us a wellness check. Kind of interesting it wasn't checked to see if he swung too, that woulda been like a double hit in the nuts. Literally get plunked down below and then have to get back into the box because you swung? Still can't believe how well he wore it. As soon as I saw him get hit I thought we may have fireworks but he for sure wasn't in the mood or physically capable to run out there. Still hurts watching that.
