Recommended: Black Sabbath - War Pigs (Live At The Olympia Theater 1970)

Happy Friday mothafuckas! Congrats on making it to the end of another week!

Today is the 71st birthday of legendary Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butlerand to celebrate, I'm throwin you a classic 'War Pigs' performance from 1970 here on 'Recommended:' - which is EASILY among my favorite "bass showcase songs" of all time.

One of the top YouTube comments on this video mentions that Geezer's only 20 years old in this clip, and the rest of the band were right there with him - Ozzy, Bill, and Tony are all 21 here - and that is absolutely MIND BENDING to think about. Even more mind bending, though? This came out in 1970!!! Imagine hearing this shit in 1970?! Right after The Beatles put out 'Don't Let Me Down'? No way anybody was ready for Sabbath the first time they heard em! Heads had to explode!

That DARK, plodding intro is so god damn iconic (mostly thanks to Geezer's part in it), but this song really allows each and every individual member of the band to shine (especially by the outro) and show what brand of heavy metal they were bringing to the table, and it'll forever be one of my favorites for that reason.

Enjoy!
