Trump Honors 'Conan', Hero Pup Of The Al-Baghdadi ISIS Raid, With Surprise Ceremony At White House

This morning the White House announced a last minute press event 'involving an animal' and it was none other than, "...right now probably the world's most famous dog."

It's no secret that along with the rest of the nation, Trump is a big fan of this Belgian Malinois who was injured helping to take out ISIS's #1 guy, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Last month he caused a stir after tweeting a photoshop job by The Daily Wire that replaced 2017 Medal of Honor recipient James McLoughan (a former Army medic who saved 10 lives in Vietnam during horrific combat conditions) with Conan.

And today Conan was honored at that impromptu ceremony in a speech by Trump. Via Fox News:

Conan, a German Shepard who was named after talk show host Conan O'Brien, was hailed by Trump as a "special" animal who helped execute a "flawless attack" on the ISIS leader.

"Conan came over from the Middle East -- just arrived with some of the great people from the special forces that did the -- it was a flawless attack," the president said. "And al-Baghdadi is gone. That was a flawless attack and I just met quite a few of them. And we just gave Conan a medal and a plaque.

As the president spoke, Conan stood next to Vice President Mike Pence, who petted his head.

"And I actually think Conan knew exactly what was going on," Trump continued. "The dog is incredible… We spent some good time with it. And so brilliant -- so smart."

Word is that the next big thing for Conan is retirement, & I hope he gets to spend the rest of his days chomping on bones & living the good life. And I hope that wherever his handler is, they're doing well too. Definitely thankful for people & pups like them this Thanksgiving week.

Speaking of… there's another animal slated for a White House visit later in the week. In the meantime they get to take dumpers all over a fancy hotel floor, like a modern turkey version of Motley Crue (minus the drugs). These two will be the least controversial pardon of the month for sure.

Side note, our Thanksgiving episode of Zero Blog Thirty comes out tomorrow with special guest Marine Corps Sergeant Brendan VanDalinda. He was recently diagnosed with cancer and still continues to serve & fight the good fight. Last night he went viral for trying to catch a pass from Tom Brady in his Dress Blues. Be sure to check it out!
