If you’re familiar with local football in Philadelphia, you’re more than aware of Kyle Ambrogi’s story. Kyle was a stand out stud at St. Joe’s Prep before taking his talents to Franklin Field as a star player for the Penn Quakers. Kyle also suffered from depression, and unfortunately took his own life at what seemingly was his high point (You can read the entire article ESPN had on Kyle and his depression from 2005 – HERE). Since the tragedy, Kyle’s family and friends have been fighters against depression and have been stalwarts in Philadelphia and beyond for suicide prevention. A lot of Kyle’s connections, including his brother Greg, are Stoolies and you know what we do when there’s a worthy cause by one of us to get behind. We rally. And rally hard.
And it’s not exactly that hard to rally, either. Do you like beef, beer, and being overall a decent human being? Well you’re in luck! The Kyle Ambrogi Foundation is hosting its 11th Annual Beef And Beer at The Great American Pub in Conshy on Saturday, March 30. $40 booze and food from 7:00-11:00. There will also be stuff given away as raffles, 50/50 tickets, prizes – The works. It’s a great time for an amazing cause hosted by better people. If you can’t make it and can make a donation or simply spread the word about Kyle’s story, please do so. Almost everyone has been affected by depression or suicide in some capacity, and it SUCKS. If we can offer the minimal amount of assistance to help these fellow Stoolies save lives then, dammit, it’s our duty.
