Kevin Hart Went On Ellen To Talk About The Oscars And Now All Of America Should Be On His Side Again

In case you forgot, Kevin Hart was supposed to host the Oscars. Some old homophobic tweets and jokes surfaced that led to the Academy trying to force him to give an apology, which ultimately led to him stepping down. If you want to read more about it, I wrote about it back in December when it happened. Check it out here.

This interview just reinforces everything that I said before. That the world needs to stop losing its mind over things that happened in thepast and learn to move on. Do I still think that Kevin Hart is a dick? Absolutely. But I also think that he’s genuine and meant everything he said. And I’m not saying that Ellen is the moral compass by which the LGBT community should base its opinions, but her opinion holds weight and I don’t think she’s going to bat for him just because he’s a friend. The episode airs today, but here’s what she had to say on the situation.

“You’ve already expressed that it’s not being educated on the subject, not realizing how dangerous those words are, not realizing how many kids are killed for being gay or beaten up every day,” she said. “You have grown, you have apologized, you are apologizing again right now. You’ve done it. Host the Oscars.”

Strong agree except for the “host the Oscars part.” That ship has sailed. If he were to do it now it would be too big of a deal. Or as he describes it, “the bright light would turn into a dark cloud.” Again, I’m not making excuses for the things Kevin said, but people grow and learn and we have to be able to look past the past. This interview drives that point home.
