NBC News- A Houston district court judge who lost a re-election bid on Tuesday is facing criticism for releasing a majority of the juvenile defendants who appeared before him Wednesday after allegedly asking them whether they planned to kill anyone. District Court Judge Glenn Devlin, a Republican, lost his seat Tuesday to Democratic opponent Natalia Oakes — in a wave of 59 conservative jurists who had been ousted by Harris County voters, NBC Houston affiliate KPRC reported. And on Wednesday morning, Devlin had made a decision that shocked Steve Halpert, juvenile division chief for Harris County’s Public Defender’s Office.

“The juveniles were asked whether they were going to, if released, whether they would kill somebody,” Halpert told KPRC. “It was a little bit shocking because that’s not a question Judge Devlin would ever ask. Or any judge.” I am baffled by why he did it,” Harris County Chief Public Defender Alex Bunin told NBC News on Thursday. “It’s definitely not good for the kids in that they are being released without any conditions.”

What a move by this judge! I think I love it. Lemme think about it for a second. Yep, I do. I love it. Just a hilarious move by him. No better way to give a middle finger to the system that didn’t re-elect you than to release a bunch of juvenile under the promise that they wouldn’t kill anyone. Judges rarely get to do cool shit like this and it took this judge being shoved out the door for him to do some crazy shit and boy did he. Laugh out loud funny that the one test the juveniles had to pass was, “Will you promise not kill anyone if I let you go?” So funny. What juvenile isn’t saying no to that? Those kids just wanna get the fuck up outta there so of course they’re gonna promise to not kill anyone. They’d actually kill someone to get outta there. One of those juveniles could have a plan to kill a person as soon as they’re released and they’d still nod their head. Easiest question ever. Especially when lying is an option.

So the question becomes, what happens to the judge if one of those kids ends up killing someone during their lifetime? The answer to that is absolutely nothing. That’s the beauty of making those kids pinky swear they weren’t gonna murder someone. If it happens? No big deal for that judge as long as it isn’t him who they murder. That’s the awesome thing about that type of promise. I’m not a lawyer but I don’t think promises are legally binding. Kill somebody. Don’t kill somebody. That judge doesn’t care anymore. That’s up to the newly elected judge to decide. Judge Glenn Devlin is headed to a tropical location without a care in the world. GOAT.
