Thin Blue Line, Thick Blue Dildo: Police Department Under Scrutiny For Bizarre Harassment Technique

Less than an hour outside of NYC the town of Mountainside, NJ is having a hard time on account of their dildo use.

They were in the news before when a lawsuit was filed against the department on behalf of five male police officers & one female dispatcher and now they’re back in the spotlight as Mountainside argues that the suit should be thrown out because the harassment was aimed at both genders.

“…the harassment couldn’t be targeted toward the woman who sued”, Mountainside Attorney Christine Amalfe said in the written statement, “because the offensive officers targeted both men and women in the department”.

I… I don’t think that’s how harassment works. I’m no expert but I believe it can happen to anyone of any gender including more than one person or gender at once.

The lawsuit against Mountainside was filed in May and has roiled the small municipality, whose police department has under two dozen officers.

It detailed alleged misconduct dating to 1998 that, in addition to the recurring displays of a dildo nicknamed “Big Blue” — including one incident caught on video — also purportedly included a laundry list of pranks involving nudity, homophobic games and racial slurs.

One scene in the video below shows Lt. Michael Murphy dressed as Santa saying he knows what one of his officers is getting for Christmas. He pulls out a big dildo and says, “A new penis!” On a purely juvenile level I’m sad to admit that it did make me laugh for a second, but zooming out and looking at the big picture it’s a very creepy move. And swinging an old dildo named “Big Blue” in your coworkers faces when they clearly don’t want you to do that is just bizarre. Think it’s safe to say this is a red flag that there’s even more dirt under the surface of goings-on there.

We have a set of Truck Nutz that’s always making it’s way around the office, but the only one who dangles them in my face is me. Regardless of the turnout of this suit I hope the drama is the catalyst for a change in environment for the people stuck working under such uncomfortable circumstances.
