Spencer Haywood Needs To Fight His Dumbass Agent Who Cost Him $8.6 Billion

Spencer-Haywood

[Detroit] - His was a storybook life come true, until  cocaine addiction brought his world crashing down. During a recent interview with Local 4, he says the best decision he ever made was to get sober (29 years ago). He says with a sly smile that it’s hard to pick a worst decision. But one of those on the list was taking the advice of his agent more than 30 years ago.

Spencer was offered a deal with a new company called Nike to promote their basketball shoes. They offered $100,000 or 10 percent of the company. His agent told him to take the money (so he could get his commission). Today, Spencer tries not to think about Nike’s current value of $86.2 billion.

Spencer Haywood is one of the more fascinating characters in NBA history. He’s known for being the guy who sued the NBA and won in order to let him enter the league early. That case actually made it to the US Supreme Court as the Sonics and Haywood agreed to a settlement with the NBA.

But, now he’s going to be known as the guy who passed up on a shit ton of money. I mean how bad of an agent can you be to see 10% of a company like Nike or $100,000. You have to take the 10% there. You just have to. The agent still would have had some sort of commission, but this one has to hurt. I don’t care what Haywood says about not trying to think about it, losing out on that sort of money is just wild.

There’s only one solution here. Spencer Haywood needs to challenge his agent to Rough n Rowdy 4. That’s the only way to settle this. Haywood deserves his chance to absolutely beat up his agent. I don’t care how old his agent is, you cost a man a chance at $8.6 billion you have to fight him. There’s no chance I’d ever let this down.
