Barstool Toss Up: Ultimate TRL Music Video

Baby-One-More-Time-2-optimised

Going to start a new way to begin an argument, because, why not? We’ll run the Barstool Toss Up, where I’ll pose a which one do you prefer question. It can be anything from sports to pop culture to music to anything. We started this with the Enter Sandman introductions and will continue to do this. Just a reminder there is no wrong answer unless you disagree with mine.

Today we’re jumping off of the question KFC and Feits talked about on KFC Radio last week. Who was your first celebrity crush? Well, we’re going to go a little different than that. I started thinking about the good ole days of the 1990s and early 2000s when you rushed home to see what was the No. 1 video on TRL. But, arguably more importantly, you ran home to see two music videos specifically.

Britney Spears ‘Baby One More Time’ and Christina Aguilera’s ‘Dirrty.’ As someone who went to private school, I was always very disappointed the day after seeing the Baby One More Time music video because no one at my school looked like Britney. It was devastating walking into homeroom every damn day after that. However, it’s arguably the most memorable music video of our generation (I’m 31, so if you’re around the same age as that). Everyone talked about that video, whether it was guys talking about how damn hot she looked or girls still dressing up like her for Halloween.

Then there was Christina with Dirrty, which came along a couple of years later. Going from Genie in a Bottle to this was a big time eye-opener for those who argued Christina was hotter. This was as fierce of a rivalry as Alabama/Auburn back in the 2000s. You had that mini skirt, the dancing, it was straight up sex through and through.

As fire as Dirrty was, I’m going with Baby One More Time. Maybe it’s because I went to catholic school and that outfit sticks out, but nothing was better than that video. Let’s hear your vote.
