WATCH: Did Kirk Minihane hit the greatest shot in Barstool Golf history?

Author's Note: SPOLIERS! If you're planning on watching Wednesday's Writer Cup matches later and don't want the results spoiled, probably don't read ahead. Fair warning, spoilers below. - Mut

Settled in for today's installment of the Writer Cup, featuring Kirk/Yandle vs. Trent/Frankie in Match 1 and Beef/Riggs vs. PFT/Arian Foster. With my friend Kirk involved, I figured there would be high potential for fireworks.

What I got instead was maybe the greatest shot in Barstool Golf history.

For some context, Team Blue (Kirk/Yandle) was down a hole through the first four holes of the 9-hole match. They started on #10, so this is Hole 14. Team Blue was reeling.

Somehow, Yandle's shot ends up in an actual drain, and they take a drop back across the street. Now, is this legal? I have no idea. I played high school golf, but my game is terrible, and I would not pretend to be a rules official.

From across the street, over the native grass, traffic stopped, through some telephone wires, Kirk knocks it to what…20 feet? Maybe 25 feet?

"Enjoy the show my guy," from Yandle to the stopped traffic was great. He knew his teammate was going to knock it close. And he did.

Yandle lagged it up there, and Team White conceded the hole and the match was all square. But Kirk's insane shot changed everything.

Team Blue would make a birdie to win the next hole, with Kirk sticking the green on the Par 3. That shot seems to get Kirk locked in.

Team Blue would win the next hole, as Trent and Frankie just completely melted in the scorching Massachusetts sun.

Up one with one to play, Team Blue was trying to hold on. Frankie actually had a putt to tie the match and get Team White half a point.

The result was not good for Frankie and Team White.

But the entire match changed on Kirk's shot. Great team camaraderie from Team Blue all day…until the end of the match.

Team Blue storming home for the comeback win…and not a teammate in sight to root them on. I'm a Whit guy, but what a terrible look for the Captain. It's supposed to look like this, with teammates supporting each other.

Where the hell was Team Blue???

We're through the scramble and the alternate shot portion of the event. It's 5.5 to 2.5 Team White, with the singles matches remaining. Team Blue needs to rally, and the lack of support for Kirk and Yandle by their teammates is concerning.

Can't wait for singles. Watch Wednesday's matches below.
